iPod Classic not updated for Daylight Savings time

I am not sure if anyone else noticed this, but my iPod Classic (160gb, 1.1.1 firmware) did not adjust for DST when it changed 2 weeks ago. I only sync it every few weeks when the battery is drained and need charging.

The time on when its playing a song and when it goes into time mode (displays the current time on the screen) are 1 hour behind. The time settings if I go into the clock area is set to New York City and shows the correct time. (I am not syncing again till for about another 1-2 weeks and will not find out if this fixes it till then. (I use it at most 2-3 hours a day.))

My music syncing machine is a Windows XP Pro machine, with iTunes 7.6.1 installed. I installed the latest firmware on the last sync I did.

The iPod classic was released about 6 months AFTER the first time this change was in effect. It should not have needed a fix, but have been programmed with this time change initially.

The new DST settings have been around since 2006 and patches have been around for most of that time. (Max OS X had no problems with any of the time changes.)

Given the intricacies of programming DST - world wide time zones (no, Americans are NOT the only ones using iPods), exceptions to the DST updates, exceptions to DST in general (Arizona, for instance), my guess is that connection to the PC is the method Apple chose to update the iPod clock for DST. Even Microsoft continued to bring DST updates out as late as January of this year. Since the only way to keep the iPod up to date with content is to connect it to a computer, it does not seem to be entirely unfair for Apple to use the computer's clock to sync the iPod's. Comparing the iPod to a complete computer operating system such as Mac OSX (or Windows for that matter) is a little disingenuous.

Of course, you can check this by not connecting your iPod to your PC the first weekend in April and see if it tries to do a DST update (thus making most iPods an hour off). My guess - it won't do it then either.
