Nortel VPN Issues Returned with 7.3.1?

When I first bought my Airport extreme, I had to put it on the shelf for a couple of months because it wouldn't allow me to make connections to my firm's NORTEL CONTIVITY VPN server. A subsequent firmware update (maybe 7.2) fixed it.

Now, running 7.3.1, I'm having the very same issue again.

Anyone else.

Same problem here. It seems variable though. I think it has to do with the version of Nortel that is being used. Some people are having luck with Nortel 6, I think...but not all versions have that luck. I am hopeful that Apple fixes this with another firmware update...sooner rather than later. I would go back to my Extreme, but alas I sold it on ebay. That'll teach me!

I guess I should mention that I AM using Windows XP, in a VMware Fusion virtual machine setup. The point is, I've been using it for quite a while with no hiccups. Now, a problem I experienced way back when has resurrected itself.

It took forever for Apple to fix this the first time around. How do we get this on their radar screen and fix agenda? Its obvious that quite a few of us will have the problem, and since its almost always work related, its more than an inconvenience.

I solved this problem by:
1- Making sure the computer with Nortel VPN first works connected directly to the modem.
2- After plugging everything back the way it should be; power down both the Airport and the modem.
3- Power up the Modem wait 30-60 second (+/-) until Modem syncs with carrier.
4- Power up Airport wait 30-60 second (+/-) until Airport syncs up with everything.
5- Test

No Love. Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't do anything. I suspect that a previous post about the version of software is correct. The reason being: Our company has VPN servers in North America, Europe, and Asia. When Apple "Broke" the VPN function the last time, we were still able to connect to Europe (various users of Apple routers in the company). Then, when Apple fixed the problem with a firmware upgrade, we were able to connect to all three servers no problemo.

Now, with the 7.3.1 firmware upgrade, the problem returned exactly as it had before. To wit, we can still connect to Europe, but not the other servers.

Kenny
