What is the "grave key"?

mac book, Mac OS X (10.5.2), 2 GB Ram, 250 GB HD

Perhaps an accent mark? Hold down option and type the` key. You'll get the mark above the next letter...for instance: à. If not that it might have something to do with a cemetery. 🙂

On my Toshiba PC laptop the grave key is left of the spacebar. On my MacBook Pro laptop it's left of the numeral one. It may be in different positions on other keyboards.

On both of my computers it is the lower-case to a tilde (~) uppercase on the same key. It has a keyboard shortcut function mentioned somewhere in the first 3 or 4 chapters of the Wolsky FCE 3.5 book, I forget just what.

(I think the pronunciation must be "grAHve" as in the French "accent grave.")
