Just a guess, but it could be a permissions problem. Navigate to your iTunes Music Folder thru the Finder, do Get Info (command + i) and see if you have Read and Write permissions on the folder AND click the button that says Details and make sure that Read and Write is Applied to the Enclosed Folders. You might also try repairing permissions in Disk Utility.
Also...do you have Admin privileges on your user account on the Mac?
When you do Get Info on the iTunes folder you should see Ownership & Permissions. Underneath that there should be a button (triangle) for Details. (Unless that option has option has moved in Leopard??????) Click that and you should see the option to Apply to Enclosed Items. You may have to scroll down to Details.
Ownership and Permissions have been changed in Leopard to Sharing and Permissions, with no button for details, only a list of users and their read or write permissions.
I seemed to have fixed the problem though. I just deleted the library and re-imported it. The only thing I did different was deauthorize the previous iTunes. Don't know if that was it, but it worked this time.
Thanks for you time and help.
