the Logic bunble plugins are very nice... expecially the new logic 8 compressor and EQs are much better the LP7 version.

UAD are totaly different... I have all most of them (all reverbs and all compressors, some Roland, Neve 88rs and 33609 and Precision series fully autorized)

but I use Logic plugin in recording phase... (for latency limitation)

UAD are the best analog emulation plugins for final mix down and mastering: "Analog ears/Digital minds".

Do you have problems with UAD-1?

witch buffer size?

the best sample buffer size is 1024!

I'm testing Leopard and Tiger with LP7 and LP8 I will post the resulting screenshots soon as possible... ther is some surprise for Tiger users...

UAD and logic 8 works faster and better on PPC G5 with 10.5.2!!!!

There are threads and threads of comments regarding the UAD-1 suite, you should do a search here to read them and know the issues. Here is the completely boiled down version from memory:

1) The Logic 8 plugs are a step up (especially the compressor) from version 7

2) The UAD plug-ins are another step (or two or five...) above that and need to be heard to understood in terms of what they will bring to the sonic table.

3) The Logic plug-ins are stable and most are low latency. They work and most use them in a utilitarian way.

4) Depending on the OS and the machine, there are some stability issues with the UAD-1e. A few people have these problems and others do not (again, read the threads). However, for plug-ins used on the main outs and subgroups, the UAD easily brings a sound to the mix with which the Logic plugs struggle.

5) While people will compare the UAD against other powered plugs and will say it is overpriced, etc, NO ONE has ever confessed they don't enjoy the sound. They sound great - and that is as close to a fact as any forum like this will produce.

about that, I'm working to test how LP8-LP7 works on my dual G5 with Leopard and Tiger
the test has been made by using an old song that is in working progress
this song comes from a old project in progress that has been started in August 2003 and comes from Lp4.8 song and Mac OS9 G4...
I do many version of "Mai diversa2" and one of the last mix as been made with LP7
Now I'm using this song for testing leopard-tiger-Lp7-LP8 performance:

the following screenshot are:
LP7 on leopard 10.5.2

and LP8 on Leopard 10.5.2

Master output with a little part of the UAD plugins used in the Track Mixer

Tested with
PowerMac Dual G5 2X2Ghz (April 2005)
Leopard 10.5.2
Logic 7.2.1
Logic 8.0.1
UAD plugins
Core Audio built -in by using Optical Out connect and clocked by TosLink with Motu Traveler.
