I just got an iPod Touch 32 GB and have synced my POP account email, but from everything I've read on this site, it looks like I cannot add new mailboxes.
Can someone verify if this is true? Seems like a major design flaw if it is.
Not sure the manual will help, as I think you're asking how to create new folders to put some of you mail from the inbox into. I couldn't find it, but reading the manual is always a good idea. If you use Gmail, it is done through the use of Labels (perhaps best done on a computer first, using the touch then to transfer only)
I have 5 different mail accounts set on my iTouch. 3 from my regular isp, 1 from mac.com and 1 from Gmail. Check the manual, it shows how to set up all of the accounts from different sources.
What folders are you talking about?
I have numerous folders under my inbox on my Macs and they showup on my .Mac mail on the Touch...using Mail.app.
I believe it will only work with IMAP.
On my Macs I have installed several accounts. When receiving mail, I order my mail in "postbussen" as it is called in the Netherlands. I believe in English these are named "mailboxes" (or, as our PC-friends say "folders").
These mailboxes/folders can not be made on an iPod (as it seems). So on my iPod all my mail is in "incomming".
The question now is: do you think we can order our e-mail in mailboxes/folders on an iPod? And if so; how?
And another question: wouldn't it be great if we could synchronise all our mailboxes/folders between our Mac and iPod?
I have downloaded the manual and read it. I had no problem setting up my email account, but it appears that I cannot set up what they call "mailboxes" so I can organize my emails on my iPod. This appears to be true for POP servers. Others with .Mac or Gmail appear not to have this problem. I just wonder why the iPod can't take my email folders from my Mac directly.
Scott,
This is exactly what I mean. I would like to be able to do what you did on your .Mac account, but I want to do it on my Road Runner (Time-Warner) email account.
