iPhone keeps going back to main screen

I just bought an iphone a few days ago and I'm now having a problem where, when I try to do something on the iphone (change the settings, send an email, use the iPod functionality, etc.), after anywhere from a few to 10 seconds it will stop and go back to the main menu. There's no error message, it just goes back to the main menu (where the icons are).

I don't know if this is relevant, but this started happening after I synced my music catalog. The first time I tried, I miscalculated and used up all of the iPhone's memory. I then deleted several songs and synced again. It says I have 555.4MB of free space now. Also, the iPhone froze once and I had to reset it (holding down the shut off and home buttons at the same time). I think my problems may have also started after the reset.

If anyone can provide me some insight on what is causing this and how to fix it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hello Wildattorney

Below is some steps that you can take that may assist you today.

1. Unsync all content if possible. And only Sync Contacts and Calenders if possible.

Test the iPhone out for a couple days and see if the same thing comes back. If it does you can proceed to the next step.

2. Un-sync Calenders and Contacts, And just sync music, now test for a couple days and see if same thing comes back. If so proceed to next step.

3. At this time if the same thing happened with contacts, Cals, and music. It is most likely something in the iPhone OS. So proceed with the following

*Ensure all content you want back on iPhone is updated and stored on your PC/Mac

*Restore iPhone. During the restore process you will get an option called Setup as new iPhone. Please choose this option. Now Sync contacts and Cals back. Test for awhile if all goes well then Sync some music back.

I have seen posts where some people have stated when they run short on memory that their iPhones will also do the same thing. And once they make room they see that go away. Other times a restore will fix anything that might be causing this.
