.ASF file convert for Quicktime

I am new to the MacBook. I recently purchased an AIPTEK digital video recorder and recorded my first movie. When transferring the file to my MacBook it arrives as a .asf. How do I go about converting these files for my use with the MacBook. Please go easy with the answers, I am new to this.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Hi - I have the exact same problem. I'm new to Mac (but love it!), and new to video. I bought a little Aiptek digital camera and found the same conversion problem with the .asf format. I was told that Quicktime Pro could convert the .asf into a Mac format. Is that not true then??? And if not, boy did I just waste $30, especially if I have to buy another product for $40!

Your .asf files are Windows Media Player formats and you'll need to spend some money to convert them.

If you had read the supported formats you would have seen no support for Windows Media formats and saved the $30.
