Screen sometimes has a tint of blue?

For some reason, sometimes my entire screen is covered with a shade of blue. I just received my MacBook Pro back from Apple a few days ago after they replaced the logic board, and since then, my screen often tints to blue.

Here are a few photos that I took to show you what I mean:

The blue tint also throbs constantly (from the blue it is now to no blue, and back again).

It appears that this issue is the same thing that is happening to me: http://www.appledefects.com/wiki/index.php?title=MacBookPro#Broken_Vertical_Blue_Lines_Appear_DownDisplay

The screen on my MacBook Pro (2.4ghz) does the same thing but I have narrowed down problem to when the system exits screen saver mode. My MacBook Pro is hooked up to an Apple 20" external monitor at work every day. When the 20" screen enters screen saver mode, the LCD on the laptop goes black while the pretty pictures display on the larger display. When I wake the system from this state, the MacBook Pro's screen usually has a blue-bluegrey tint to it. This can be immediately fixed by choosing Sys Pref/Display/Mirror On. and then turning mirror off again. Very annoying and a waste of time to fix. This blue tint never happens when the MacBook Pro is at home and not connected to the Apple external monitor (e.g. when the laptop enters screensaver with no external monitor).

also had blue tint on MacBook Pro screen
during early boot process screen was Ok, then near the end of the boot process the blue tint appeared
trashed all files in Preferences called com.apple.blahblahblah.plist
and the blue tint is gone
other prefs are also but I can rebuild them, and was probably time to redo them anyway
I suppose one could go thru the files chunk by chunk to determine which plist is involved

This same things happens to me, but I never use an external monitor.

I will wake my MBP from sleep and when the screen comes back on, there is an overall blue/cyan tint to everything as if some of the red channel is missing.

It happens every couple of weeks or so and resets itself on restart (I haven't tried using the Sys Prefs yet).

So it's not a HUGE problem . . . YET . . . but it is a pain to have to restart in those instances and I can't help but wonder the longterm implications of what it means and what may be defective.

I have the exact same problem. The workaround, annoying as it is, for me is to keep my Display Preferences set to "Show displays in menu bar". When my computer awakes with the odd screen tint I open Display Preferences from the shortcut in my menu bar. As soon as the Display Preferences panel opens, my display reverts to normal.

The screen-saver/hot corner workaround mentioned above works for me too.

I used to have the same problem as you guys, having a blue or even red tint all over the screen.
I have found a couple of solutions that are working great for me, because my CPU needs to do a lot of work for me. Final Cut Pro, Motion, CS3, etc..

The first thing that I can advice is the following FREE app (donations are encouraged):
iStat: This app allows you to monitor all kind things going to memory usage to temperature monitoring
The next one is
SmcFanControl: This app allows you to alter the rpm of your fans, which help you regulate the temperature of you CPU, Airport card, etc. The app works perfectly fine, and is like iStat FREE.

If you google these programs name, you should be able to find the download.
Good Luck,

Used it earlier today with no problem. I started it up around midday and immediately noticed the first start up screen (with Apple logo) was not white, but a light blue. Everything now has a blue tint to it. I am not using an external monitor. I checked the display system pref and no change. I heard some people messed with that and it popped back. I am not using a screen saver. I am mentioning these things because people have mentioned these as triggers. I've run disk utilities. I have restarted the computer. no change. The computer was not hot as it had been off prior to use.

The computer was purchased the week they came out (Oct?). So I've had them 6-7 months now. I have two of them and the other one is fine.

Just read in one post that someone accessed display pref via the menu bar and that 'popped' it back. Worked for me. But still very unhappy about this.
