Hello, I was made aware that corporate email that uses a cisco vpn is not supported with the current iphone OS. However our company also offers webmail..I was wondering if it is possible to set the mail up to work to pull the email via the webmail onto the iphone mail program?
Thanks you
The iPhone's Mail client currently supports accessing IMAP or POP accounts. If you can access the account as an IMAP or POP account, you can use the iPhone's Mail client.
Webmail is a term used for accessing an email account with a browser.
I am aware of what webmail is, but because our cisco VPN is not currently supported until the software update early this summer, I was wondering if there is a way to pull the email via the hoarde webmail that we access as well. I can access that from my safari browser, but it is quite cumbersome. Yahoo mail and gmail are all accessible via the mail app and they are webmail, was wondering if anyone with a cisco VPN has had any success rerouting it?
Sorry but no. Yahoo and gMail and others while yes are webmail, they offer pop or imap or other protocol support. That is why the email app can access it. The same way I can setup Outlook Express to check them too. If you work cannot expose mail protocols such as POP or IMAP, not much you can do but browse to it via the web.
Yahoo mail and gmail are all accessible via the mail app and they are webmail,
A Gmail account is accessible via webmail access (as are most email accounts) and is accessible via the iPhone's Mail client as an IMAP or POP account.
Yahoo provides a free account for iPhone customers for access with the iPhone's Mail client as an IMAP account - which is also accessible via webmail access.
