liquify trouble in photoshop

I have a brand new mac pro and am trying to liquify a 10mb file and I am only getting the spinning rainbow. What in the heck is going on? I bought this to out perform my PC and I am beginning to wonder.

Please help

One possibility could be a lack of RAM. On the Mac Pro you really need a minimum of 4GB to run Photoshop effectively.

Also, if you are using Photoshop CS2, or earlier, then you will only fully benefit from the Mac Pro's speed if you upgrade to Photoshop CS3.

I am using CS3 but my Imac does fine and its not half the machine the mac pro is. This isnt just slow, it wont get away from the spinning rainbow. I have waited literally minutes and finally aborted the program. I transfer to my Imac and it works as expected.

i am running cs2 and (ONLY after Adobe pdates!!) can run all
commands. Have you done all your updates? There were issues
with Leopard and "Universal" Mac apps.

No problem here. VERY fast with CS3. Be sure to check out Hatter's link above. It's important to configure your system properly.

I had that problem happen once too...out of the blue. it had been working fine, and then without changing anything, liquify was taking FOREVER! The fix was simple...ran my Adobe Updater and installed the lastest update.
