iPhone error Sync contacts

iPhone syncs contacts correctly yet error message indicates (contacts could not sync because iPhone is disconnected). any suggestions !
MacPro leopard 10.5.2 - iPhone 8G version 1.4 - Current iTunes 7.6.1

MacPro Quad 2.66, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Try using a different USB port on your computer, or reset your iPhone (hold home button and power for a little until you see Apple logo).
Restore your iPhone, then try syncing again.
Reinstall iTunes.

I get this same error every time I edit a contact on the phone or address book. It is some kind of but. Here is how to fix this error:

1.) Open iSync
2.) Open the preferences and under Advanced click the button "Reset Sync history"
3.) Go back to iTunes and Sync again

Nothing is lost when iSync history is reset; however the contacts are syncronized and no data is lost.
