UPS options grayed out

Well I purchased a new UPS which is working fine and registered under Energy Saver preference pane but the problem is that I cannot modify the settings. All of the automation settings are grayed out and have no idea how to enable them.

My UPS has been confirmed by the manufacturer to have the ability to use the tools grayed out.

They tested the same UPS and got the same results as me.

I have administrator privileges.

Rebooting, updating, ect nothing works.

Here is a screenshot of what I get. Changing to any other optimization profile does absolutely nothing. This UPS is connected via USB directly to my mac, not through a hub.

I have a UPS BF800 model which works with no problems. I guess that we are talking about the same manufacturer. Are you trying to configure the Energy Saver preferences though an admin account? If so, click the lock in the Energy Saver preference pane then click it again and authenticate.

What if you switch from Optimized to something else? is there Manual setting? I don't have laptop and don't see the 2nd toolbar for "optimized." I have APC UPS.

Shame that APC has an excellent program for Windows, but never had anything close for Mac OS X.

I have tried clicking the lock many times an authenticating several times. No luck. Also tried choosing different optimization profiles such as "Better UPS life" and the options are still grayed out.

The UPS I have is made by cyber power which you must have the model up from mine. My account is the only one so am I safe to assume I am an admin?

Possibly, the MacBook battery is the issue. It could be a hardware/software issue. My Energy Saver preferences look different then the link with the snapshot that you provided. Have you tried to shutdown the computer, remove the battery, then run the computer by the power cord only?
