HP Photosmart 2610

Need help here. I've added a 2610 to my LAN via a Linksys router. I can print to the printer and my wife's Windows and see and print it. However, I have two oddities I need assistance with:

1) Half the time when I print to it, the printing completes, but the paper seems to be stuck in the printer as if it hasn't got the print-complete signal from the OS. I usually resolve this by hitting the "cancel" button on the panel. Annoying.

2) When sending a document to be printed, the printer was in its power saving mode. The print (HP supplied) print monitor showed that it was "idle". I reached over, pushed (any) botton, and suddenly it woke up and started the print.

3) Print of a PDF document was painfully slow. However, it didn't seem all that surprising.

Any suggestions? Some pertinent facts:

a) I went to the HP support site and pulled down a 6/05 version of the latest install code

b) I'm not using Bonjour

Thanks in advance!

Aha! Since I've posted this initial question, I found a solution. I found an obscure solution to this on another troubleshooting site. There is an option within the System Preferences section for Printer/FAX that says "Reset Printer Queue". That will also blow away your printer definition (that won't work correctly) for the 2610.

The author of this emphasised having to select the Reset function (I think it's a pulldown option).

Once I selected it...all printing works fine!

Thanks for your attempt to help.
