Hi All
I have used Paint Shop Pro on my old PC to 'touch up' backgrounds etc and would like to do this on my mac. At the moment I do the work on the PC then memory stick it but it is time consuming and I am sure there must be similar available I just do not know how or where to find it? Any suggestions?

You are not the only one in that boat. Like you, I find myself doing my finer work on my win machine and then transferring it via a thumbdrive. I also recently migrated to Mac and the only Win app I miss is Paint Shop Pro. I have tried a few Mac apps but all have been sorely lacking when compared to PSP. Pixelmator showed some promise but their cloning tool is essentially useless as presently configured.

I am awaiting the release of Photoshop Elements 6 and hoping they have a trial version but I am not optimistic. In preparation to my move, I tried the Win version of Photoshop Elements 6 and found usable but rather clumsy to use as compared to PSP and expect the Mac version will be the same.

This is one of the advanced editing capabilities of PSE. Here's another.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
