Seen an adapter to plug the iphone earbuds into a standard mini jack?

The iPhone earbuds should work with a standard port/jack without anything special.

My iPhone headphones worked great on the airplane. I also use them everyday with my laptop and have used them with my ipod with no problems. The extra ringlet (presumably the connection for the control features on the headphones) on the plug just isn't recognized on other devices at all....works great as the other two ringlets on the plug are for left and right audio. I did have to do some jiggling around on the airplane headphone jack to get stereo, just kind of plugging it in and rotating it, could have been a bad jack but it worked with some fiddling.

One more thing...when I used my headphone splitter to share with my wife, I didn't have to mess with the headphones at all, they worked just fine.
