I can group chat between multiple iChat users all using their Gmail (Jabber) accounts. I can group chat between multiple web-based Gmail users. I can chat one-on-one between an iChat user and a web-based Gmail user. Is there a way to group chat between multiple iChat (Jabber) AND web-based Gmail users??

Thanks for any pointers.

If all the clients apps or functions of a Web based version are capable of Group chats you should be able to do this.

Each time I try to group chat from inside iChat with a web-based Gmail or Google Talk buddy, it sends me to my browser for a group chat from my Gmail account. So far, my experience tells me that it's not possible to group chat with web-based Gmail or Google Talk buddies from inside iChat, even though all three chat clients support groups. Wish this would work. Anyone know differently or can confirm?

    Thanks.

Google Talk uses normal Jabber chatrooms for its group chat, however it creates them using a random name and i believe the web interface keeps this name hidden.

It might be possible to get iChat to join one of the rooms if you are invited from someone using the web interface but i haven't tried this so don't know for sure.

Adium recently added support for creating/joining Gtalk rooms (in 1.2.5 i believe) so if you just want to be able to use a local client that might be a viable option.

I have found that trying to monitor this by using iChat with Gmail open in a Chat keeps logging you out of the Gmail page.
