Mail ATT/Yahoo IMAP?

So the iPhone supports Yahoo Push IMAP e-mail on the iPhone. Great! It also allows my legacy ATT e-mail to work the same way via their relationship with Yahoo. GREAT!

Here's the question. If Yahoo supports IMAP on the iPhone, why not in Mail? I would like the same e-mail account to work consistently between the iPhone Mail and OS X Mail. Is this possible?

I tried using the same IMAP settings as the iPhone uses on my desktop but, it doesn't work. It would seem if Yahoo supports IMAP on the iPhone, it should also support IMAP on the desktop, yes?

One problem in particular with iPhone Yahoo IMAP is it keeps draft, sent and trash directories on the server which I cannot access via the desktop which instead uses POP.

Yahoo prevents accessing a free Yahoo account with an email client on your computer.

Yahoo provides a free Yahoo account for iPhone customers, which can be accessed as a Push-IMAP account with the iPhone's Mail client, but Yahoo prevents accessing the account with an email client on your computer. You can access the account via webmail using a browser only on a computer.
