How to edit words from song in itunes

I would like to edit the cuss words out of songs to make them child appropriate. Is there a way I can do this in itunes?

Hi Stephanie and welcome to the Apple Discussions Forum!

If you want to edit the song name, it's easy. Just click "Get Info" and rename the song.

If you want to take some words out from your songs, you'll need to use a 3rd Party Software, once iTunes can't do it for you. Although if you buy music from the iTunes Store, almost every Explicit song has also a Clean version available.

Hope this helps!

I've never heard of anyone wanting to ever do this, especially for a child. If you are serious about making a song "child appropriate" some artists albums have a non-explicit version sold on iTunes and you can simply purchase that version. Or if you don't want to do it that way, you would have to edit the song itself. iTunes is NOT a music editing tool, only a media library/burning application. I would suggest using a simple and light weight music editing program like Audacity. It's a free program and can help you edit those songs by adding a warp to the curse word.

Stephanie,

Be aware that Audacity works on MP3 files but not on AACs. Also, to use it as you wish, you have to go thru the songs manually, identify exactly where the forbidden words are, edit each spot with Audacity (it operates graphically on the waveform), and then export the new file which you will then use in place of the original. This may be more trouble than you'd like.

It might be much easier to purchase "Clean" versions of certain songs, or only use your non-explicit songs around the kids.
