What's the fan noise like?

The ALU iMac fans by default are very quiet practically inaudible.

I had one of these on test recently and found that, like my MBP and like my iMac the Air was really quiet. If yours is noticeable, a first check might be in Activity Monitor to see what is using lots of processor. You might also try the iStat nano widget from the Apple downloads site.

I quite agree.

I though my last iMac (iMac (Flat Panel)) was quiet but this is something else. I only ever here a little puff from the fans as I wake it from sleep.

it was a good 6 months after I got my first imac that the fan came on and it scared the **** out of me!! quiet for 6 months, then as I was running parallels/maya/after effects/photoshop and a few other things at the same time...lol the fan turned on for about 30 seconds.

It is normally so quiet, you wont notice any real noise. Just the normal noises other than the fan.
