Turn my default Banner Sheet off for good.

We are an all-Mac shop with a couple of Xerox printers on the Network. Both have a default banner sheet that can be turned off within the print dialogue menus of any piece of software. The issue is that it must be turned off not only for every piece of software that I don't want to print a banner sheet, but for every document printed.

It won't stick in the off (unchecked) position.

It doesn't sound like a big deal to remember to wander through the sub menus and turn it off each time you print, but we have about 20 people here, and very few remember to do this. Over the course of a week we waste a lot of paper on banner sheets just informing us whose print is whose.

Under the printer management menus either at the printer or remotely through my browser, the banner sheet is set to off, but the drivers' default is set to print.

Does anyone know how to change this? Do I have to alter the driver file directly? How do I go about that? Where might I find the specific driver as our Xerox printer shows up in the list of default drivers that installs with OSX.

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows anything about this. Xerox can't help, they claim it's a software issue.

Some ideas (don't know if they're good):
Have you tried setting this in Printer Setup > highlight printer > Show Info ?

or, in CUPS admin page:
http://localhost:631/printers/
Modify settings

Lastly - this could be set in the PPD and the new PPD distributed to all computers.

Here's what to do to take a look at the Xerox PPD(s):
Use the Finder GO menu > go to Folder, and enter this unix directory - /etc/cups/ppd
When you go there you will find the currently-ADDed printers' PPDs. Drag one or more to the desktop. This is a copy operation and doesn't disturb your current setup.

edit the PPD(s) with a text editor (I use Text Wringler - BBedit). Read through it and see what the default is for banner page - then decide if you want to try changing it.
