keyboard protector damaging screen? HELP!!!

I purchased a new (white) Macbook last week, and I also purchased a silicon-like keyboard/palm rest protector. I leave it on the macbook at all times, when its charging, a sleep, when i turn it off, etc. Anyway, I've been noticing when I turn off my mac, my screen has large areas of blotchy smudgy patches, so i use my cleaning cloth they give with each new mac, and nothing. I don't press to hard b/c i am afraid of damaging the screen. Thing is when i turn on to use my laptop, none of the smudgy spots show or is noticeable. My problem is when i first opened my mac for the first time, the screen was of course perfect, and now a week later the screen looks like ppl have been touching the screen with dirty fingers. Is it the keyboard protector, or is there another solution to clean my laptop's screen?

The silicon keyboard protectors can be pretty harsh on screens. They hold onto the residue from your fingers and happily give it away to the screen when you close the lid of your MacBook. I would suggest getting a cloth cover such as the ones Marware make to put in between the screen and your keyboard. That should help you out. As far as cleaning the screen, the smallest bit of water on a lint free cloth never hurts. I use the iKlear products and would recommend them.
