IKlean Mess.

I used IKlean on my glossy screen and the result is a smudged screen surface. Is there a better way to clean the screen?

Are they including cleaning cloths in MBPs now? What do they look like/How big are the cloths? From my User Guide (note it differs from your quote):
"To clean your MacBook Pro screen, first shut down your MacBook Pro, unplug the power adapter, and remove the battery. Then dampen a clean, soft, lint-free cloth or paper with water only and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen."

At least mine did (received 14 march 08): a black square of microfiber with the Apple logo, folded in four, inside a cellophane envelope and placed in the sleeve that contained the EULA and the Install/Restore DVDs (labeled "Everything Else"). I prefer to use a bright yellow 3M ScotchBrite microfiber cleaning cloth instead: much bigger and you can see the grime being removed.

The rest is the same: lightly moistened with water, swab in light circular motions and I prefer to dry immediately with a soft, clean and lint free cotton cloth to avoid streaking. Has kept my last three darlings clean and unblemished (TiBook, PBook G4, MBook Pro).

I used the IKlear first as well (not IKlean as I originally typed it). It left the screen all smudgy and streaky. Following the posted suggestion to use water with a microfiber cloth I was dubious but tried it, and it works flawlessly (OK, streaklessly)! By the way, I did not get a microfiber cloth with my MBP, but I have a lot of them from my eyewear professional. Good luck.
