? epson stylus color 800 only works in tiger if networked

the epson stylus color 800 printer has worked until the latest upgrade of system software, but now the only driver I can find says "for ethernet connectivity only" when I search the epson website. The card is ridiculously expensive. Do I have to buy one, or is there other software available?
