how to add "descriptions" to movies??

When I rent or buy movies on iTunes they come with a "description" that shows in itunes (under tab "description") and then this info is displayed on my appleTV. I have movies I have ripped and home videos, etc. and I want a description to show up for them on appleTV and iTunes - I cannot (itunes won't let me) add any text within the description field. what do I do? Thank you.

Hi brianv33,

Well using iTunes, you won't be able to add or edit movie descriptions.

One way I found to do this, is to use this script: [Make Video Tags v1.1|http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts09.php?page=1#makevideotags]

isn't that just typical of the way things are going with apple these days... seems everything is getting more locked. Will give the script a try. Thank you!

What did I do with this issue?

Apple TV will show time, Genre, comment and movie title.

Genre> I do a custom and enter DVR movie, DVD movie, DVD Oscar, DVR Oscar, etc

Comment>I use AFI web site and copy/paste interesting information. Apple TV will do four lines of this text. You can type your own stuff or edit the copy/paste.

Firmware 2.01 gives Genre in My Movies>so I can just select the above personalized Genre.

Skip the script--it's buggy as heck. Use MetaX, which can download artwork, descriptions and more and ACTUALLY WORKS™.

I much prefer VideoDrive over MetaX. It fills in descriptions and taglines automatically when you add your videos (both movies and TV Shows) in iTunes. And it also adds the cover art.
