Remove part of a song

I wonder if there is a way to edit a song to cut out a piece at the end. On one album, there is about a 20 second silence after the music fades, and the next song begins and i thought i might edit the song so that it would be a few seconds instead of 20 seconds.

Right-click the song, Get Info > Options, and set the Stop time where you want it. On playback, it will stop where you inidcated.

If you actually want a new file of the shorter version, right-click, Convert Selection To XYZ. (Note that this step does not work on protected AAC files.)After you verify the new (shorter) file, you can either keep or delete the original (longer) file.
