Clips in iMovie display as solid gray and crashes.

1-Imported Hi-8 movie (approx. 69 minutes) via an A/D Converter into iMovie as one clip.
2-Rejected a few beginning frames.
3-Dragged and Dropped the entire clip into a Project.
4-Both Events and Project displayed okay.
5-Then one time after starting iMovie all the frames in both Events and Project for this particular video display as solid gray, although skimming over the frames displays the actual video.
6-Now whenever iMovie starts all events/projects are okay except this particular movie, which displays all solid gray frames in the Project and the Event frames are interspersed with frames from another Event/Project.
7-Also, after skimming this Event or Project iMovie suddenly terminates with a KERN INVALIDADDRESS.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
A couple of reports have been sent to Apple when iMovie terminated. but how does one get a resolution from Apple?

Thanks for the info!
I didn't have just some gray frames, the whole movie was gray. Skimming over the gray frames showed the actual video. Restarting iMovie again showed the entire source window as gray frames but it was interspersed with video frames from a previously imported video. Doing almost anything caused iMovie to crash.
I have solved the problem by deleting the Thumbnail file in the iMovie Events folder and letting iMovie recreate it the next time I started it.
