My Tiger lost some colors - again

I had this issue once in 10.3.x, now in 10.4.x again:

Due to an app going wild and consuming MUCH memory, I had to restart the system using a power on reset.

After the reset, all the system's color schema change. All colors look 'light', certain. I don't know why, but all colors look too bright or have too less contrast.

Fixing prvolidges, resyncing the monitor etc. helped fr nothing. The color schema persists.

What is going on here?

I would use System Preferences->Display to confirm that your viewing the most colors possible, and that your Display profile is using the default (under the Colors tab).

You may want to check Universal Access preferences - Seeing tab and check what the Enhance contrast settings are.

Cool, this fixed the problem. Universal Access prefs was set to 70% - instead of 100% (normal).

I'm absolutely sure, that I never opened the prefs panel. Moreover, the problem appeared just after the mentioned restart of the system.

Do you know how this happens?

I don't know why a restart would causes this to happen. I know that you can adjust the contrast using key commands (Command-Option-Control-.) You can disable the Keyboard shortcuts for this in Keyboard & Mouse preferences.
