Is anyone successfully using the Canon CLC 4040 with v2.0 of the PS Driver and Mac OS X 10.5?

Hello Christiaan,

We don't have the CLC4040 (known as a iR C4080 in Australia) but we do have the bigger brother iR C4580 and I have my Leopard Mac's using the v2.01 of the Canon PS driver. So far there has been no problems with this driver.

For the installation, you have to ensure you use IP Printing then either LPR or HP Jet Direct. You do not use the Canon IP (PS) option under More Printers like you do with the v1.81 driver.

We also have the iR C5185 with the imagePASS-H1 RIP, which I seem to remember from other posts is called CLC instead of iR C by Canon Europe. This RIP was recently updated to the new version 2.0 system firmware, which now provides Bonjour access and includes a new driver that is vastly improved over the previous v1.x driver. This has been working very well and has been well received by our DTP users.

Thanks PaHu.

We received a new CLC 4040. I loaded up driver v1.1 from the CD and then later loaded up driver v2.0 from Canon's website (which is the only one on their website).

Problem is now we can't print from v2.0 (spools but doesn't print) or now v1.1 (crashes apps) and we can't now do a clean install or uninstall of either driver.

The engineer's have tried a patch for the Fiery but that didn't work. They said that the driver v2.0 shouldn't have been released without also releasing v2 for the Fiery system also.

So now we stuck waiting for v2 of the Fiery system or doing a complete Mac OS system reinstall and loading up just driver v1.1

The v2 system has been released in Australia. Canon tech turned up with a notebook and a few cd's and did the update on site. But if you had system 1.1 in the imagePASS, then the Canon tech is probably correct in saying that you should not have used the v2 driver. With the newest Fiery's, it is always best to use the driver that resides on the RIP, rather than downloading it or using a CD. This method guarantees that the driver will match the system being used...

As for the driver removal, EFI have produced a driver removal utility. When you run the application, it shows the installed driver/s and their associated ppd's and plugins. Your local Canon techs should have access to this utility. If they don't, pls reply and I will see if my Canon tech can 'lend' me the util...
