Buyers Remorse Policy

Suppose Apple releases a new iPhone (or if not new, then a bumped version), would it be possible for me to return my used, activated iPhone for a new/refreshed version? I've been told that this policy is usually fourteen days after purchase.
I purchased my iPhone from an AT&T store.

Could I do this?
(This is all banking on Apple putting out a new phone within my 14 days.)

Talk about buyers remorse. My iPhone 4gb was a gift from my brother back in August. A few weeks later, the iPhone 4gb was GONE, and it's $200 LESS for an $8gb.

My brother was quite angry. I got a free iphone so I'm chill.

I may spend some of my own $$ if/when the 3g version comes out. I'd Hand-Me-Down the old one to my wife. (She just had our first baby, and being able to surf the net one-handed while breast-feeding would be a bonus.)
