software installation problem

Hi!
It seems that I have a problem with installing softwares. In this case, I try to install "ImageMixer VCD2" on my computer (it is the video camera software that I got with my Soy video cam). They say to copy and double-clic on the .SIT file, and that it will install that software. But instead of that, it launchs iPhoto, and it says that the file is unreadable (of course :D:D). It seems that I have a problem with installers no???
After that, I tried to plug my videocam on the USB port and I launched iMovieHD. When the soft tried to import the movie, it says that there's no video cam connected but there's obviously one!!!
Please please please can anyone help me??? I'm getting mad!! Thx!

Emmanuelle,

Your question would have received a quicker response if you posted it in the iMovie area... However, I will give you a couple of ideas to try.

First, if you want to install the software that came with the camera (and may allow you to see the camera on the USB port), you need to open the .sit file using Stuffit Expander. Right-click or control-click on the .sit file and select Open With and then select Expander. If your computer doesn't have a copy of Expander, then you can download it from <http://www.stuffit.com>.

Second, in order to use iMovie the camcorder must be connected to a FireWire port (also known as IEEE 1394). That will be your best option for getting the video on your Mac.
