Movies wont add to the iTunes Library

Whenever I try to add any kind of movie to the iTunes library (WMV, m4v, mov, etc.), it just sits there and loads for a bit then does nothing at all. I've tried a drag and drop method and the "Add file to library" option, and neither work.

Mine should be in the right format.I rented a movie from itunes to check this whole thing out. It downloaded and is sitting in the rental folder. If I click on it is will let me play it (I haven't done it yet so I still have 28 days left).

The problem is that I can't add it to my nano. It won'd let me drag it anywhere and is not in my list for synching it. I just stuck now. My nano is video capable.

The only other reasons I can think of is, the operating system somehow has a lock on it, so iTunes can't add it. Vista is notorious for weirding out file permissions.

How to Disable UAC
Click Start/ type in the Search bar msconfig without quotes and hit ENTER... In the System Configuration window that will pop-up, select the TOOLS Tab. Scroll down the list and look for Disable UAC. Select it and click launch. Close all open windows and reboot...

Also, are the movies on a SATA drive, or is it IDE?
