Will TextEdit allow page breaks in rtf files?

When I create an rtf file using TextEdit, there is a menu item under the Edit menu called "Insert" which allows you to insert a "Page Break".

When I add a page break to an rtf document, however, it doesn't seem to have an effect*. When I print the document and view it using Preview, Preview does not end the page at the place where I put the page break.

So, what is the story with this? Anyone know?

*I did look at the rtf file using TextWrangler after adding the page break and it does add rtf code "\page \pard\tx720\tx1440\tx2160\tx2880\tx3600\tx4320\tx5040\tx5760\tx6480\
tx7200\tx7920\tx8640\ql\qnatural\pardirnatural". So adding a page break does seem to do something, it just doesn't seem to give a page break, at least when printing.
