Internal MIDI-routing?

Internal MIDI-routing?

Hey there... *is it possible to route the MIDI-output of Logic internally to another program*, or do i have to use the cord (midi out->in) i'm using now?

Environment? Or is there some other software out there? Something like Soundflower for MIDI?

I wanna do this so i can improve my live-setup.
Basically Logic controls OnStage for session change (songs) and also controls Mainstage x2 on 2 other macbooks.

Is it possible?

MacBook C2D 2.0 w/3GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Yep - OSX has an IAC Bus for inter-application MIDI communication.

Go to your Audio/MIDI Setup Utiltity and enable it (if it isn't already).

Now, the IAC bus just shows up like any other MIDI port - send to it from one application, and receive from it in the other one.

No "cords" necessary...

Oh my Geil-ness you really solved that quickly. I had almost given up hope.
Funny sometimes one misses what should be not too "un"-obvious.

Works like a charm already.
Seemless song & sound switching between Mainstage, OnStage and Logic, just the way i want it.
I had to turn the IAC on though, so I guess it's off by default.

You just saved me and my friends a lot of cable hassle.

You're welcome - yep, the IAC bus is off by default.

It's one more nice little OS-supported extra that OSX has for us music-types... 😉

Reverse what?

You want to send MIDI from another application into Logic? Sure, just set the other application to send to the IAC bus - Logic will receive it as it receives MIDI from all MIDI input ports the computer knows about.
