Can I reformat my iPod from Windows Explorer?

Hello, My question is whether or not I can reformat my iPod in Windows Vista the same way in which I would reformat another hard drive (and NTFS) - or if I have to use the restore feature. Thanks!

iPod with color display, Windows Vista

There's no reason why not (people often do this to check and remap bad sectors on the iPod hard drive), but you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward otherwise it will be useless as a music player.

If you do this, don't use anything other than FAT32. See this for more detail.
