OK, I switched over from a PC to an iMac recently. I also DJ for a hobby. On my PC I had my mixer hooked up to the PC using the Line-In on the back of the PC. By doing this I was able to hear the sound from my DJ speakers and my External Computer speakers. Now that I hooked up my mixer to my iMac I am unable to hear the sound from my external speakers. I have gone into system preferences, sound, output is set to headphones (ie external speakers), input (audio line-in port), nothing is on mute and sound levels are up. I'm not sure what to do now. My itunes plays with no problem through my external speakers but no sound when I have the mixer hooked up. I really want to fix this ASAP. I also was converting my vinyl collection over to MP3 format using Audacity on my old PC. I want to continue to do the same thing with my iMac.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

Does he not also need something like Linein to passthru the audio from line-in to line-out? "LineIn is a simple application for OS X to enable the soft playthru of audio from input devices. In simpler terms, you can use LineIn to play sound coming in through a microphone or any other device plugged in to your Sound In port..."
Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry I took a little while to answer back. I see that I have to buy that MXL iBooster and download that program. I was also thinking about buying a new Mixer. If I buy this Mixer -

I'm not the audio expert here, but it should work using the mixers headphone output is (1.0 V) to the iMac's (Minimum 63 mVRMS/ Maximum 3 VRMS) Line In port!
