iWeb converts mp3 files to mov

I am using iWeb 08 and just recently, when I export to a folder, the application converts my mp3 podcast files into .mov files. Anybody else had this problem? Know how to fix it?

I am using mp3 format so that PC users can easily import to WMP.

Thanks,

Dave

QTK - can we check that:

i) you're on version 2.0.3 of iWeb
ii) you're using the podcast layout uploading the mp3 file to the placeholder
iii) if you do a publish to a folder, the files in the media folder are definately .mp3

if so, seems very weird. When publishing to my sites folder, the mp3 files are being converted to mov in the media folder.

I too was having the same problem with iWeb converting my .mp3 files to .mov files. I about had a heart attack after trying 3 times to get iWeb to output the .mp3 files as .mp3 files. Thank goodness I found this post so quickly so I can re-install Quicktime 7.4.1.

Now I will be able to post the next episode of my podcast correctly as a .mp3 and everyone including PC users will be able to listen to my podcast.

Thanks again.

I am going to bump this once again, for that very reason. When I was first experiencing this problem, I searched the discussion boards for hours and hours over two days before making this post. Thankfully, one of the members here figured it out and responded.

This is quite a serious problem with QuickTime in my estimation and I am continually shocked by it. I will be even more shocked if this was not simply an oversight, but an intended feature of QuickTime.

Kirk, thanks for trying, but this is 100% most definitely a serious issue. I broke my own rule about sotware updates. Normally I test on a non-essential mac and then deploy to the rest if all is ok, but this issue was/is a REAL shocker! I kicked myself for doing this update because I lost 3 days of work over it and 3 days of downtime on my podcast. Apple Quality Control - WAKE UP!!

For those with Tiger instead of Leopard I'm adding the URL's you need to download Pacifist and QuickTime 7.4.1 :

QuickTime for Tiger 10.4.x:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime741fortiger.html

Pacifist:
http://www.charlessoft.com/Pacifist.dmg

I hope this helps! It's my first time doing this, too but as "canaries says:
"when downloaded drag the QT package over to the Pacifist window and when loaded select the 'Contents of Quick Time' line and then click the Install icon (top left). Should then all re-install everything from there."

If this helps, I will do a write up and post it on my blog and link it here.

Thanks everyone for the help!! 🙂
