Why can't i burn to Maxell 650MB CD-RW on my G4 107S-Drive?
Why can't i burn to 650MB CD-RW's any longer on my G4 PM 107S-Drive? Worked fine in the past but apparently not under X.4.2
Anybody have a clue what's going on here?
Apple's Disk Utilities also refuses to erase this particular type of media (Maxell CD-RW 74mins.) Is it now impossible to use this media?
I can however burn to Memorex Platinum 650MB CD-RW 74 Mins. Go figure! I went back and tried 5 or 6 more Maxell 650MB CD-RW's and my burner refuses to cooperate on each. This is very strange because it's the exact opposite scenario with regards to DVD media between these two different vendors (meaning in the past; Maxell has always out performed memorex medias on all 4 of my macs). Why will my 107 S-Drive allow me to use Memorex but not any Maxell 650MB CD-RW medias? Am I doing something wrong here?
The system is able to read both brands perfectly but it will only burn to the Memorex media and not to the Maxell CD-RW media.
I do realise there are two separate lenses (one for CD's and another for DVD's) on a 107 S-Drive. But how weird is the fact that Memorex is out performing Maxell when it comes to CD's? I certainly hope this isn't the case with DVD's as well ... I'll post further results later.
Now I'm wondering if i switch startup volumes to an older OS on my G4 PM if it will then accept both these medias? Again, I'll post back with a few more results later.
