Using Sansa e260 mp3 with my iMac

When we first got our iMac a few months ago, my son plugged in his Sansa MP3 player, and an icon for it showed up on the desktop and all was well. A month or so later, the icon was gone and he hasn't been able to download any music since then. We've searched everywhere and don't find anything associated with the Sansa on the iMac.

Does anyone here know what might have happened and how we can re-create the Sansa icon and whatever made it work with the iMac?

There are two USB modes on the Sansa e260 - MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) and MSC (USB mass storage device class). Try changing the USB Mode under "Settings" on the Sansa e260 to MSC.

Here is some info on MTP - I don't think MacOS X can natively use the e260 when its in MTP mode:
