Star filter or Cross Screen filter?

Star filter or Cross Screen filter?

Does anyone know if a filter is available for FCP or FCE which adds a "starry" look to specular highlights or pinpoints of light? Like the physical filter photographers put on their lenses when they take a picture of a city at night, and each of the brightest highlights has a little star on it. Is something like this available for FCP or FCE?

FCP 6 has a filter called Dazzle that does something like that. Messing with the parameters gives a pretty good effect, though probably not as good as what a lens would give you. (I'd post a picture of it applied to some footage but I can't figure out how.)

If you don't have FCP 6, try googling it. You might be able to get a plugin for it.

I just edited a video using the dazzle feature, so I froze a frame with the dazzle effect on it. Here it is

That looks like a pretty good looking star filter to add on. With the Dazzle, you can adjust the brightness, threshhold, etc, i don't know really if you can go onto the amount of points. And dazzle well amplify light colors as well
