The ITunes is not recognising the Ipod touch

When the Itunes 7.6 start it says:

"This IPod cannot be used because the required sofware is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove ITunes, then install ITunes again."

I did it 10000 times and it still gives me the same message.

Could you please help?

Thank you

I'm having the same exact problem. I was given the same solution and it's still not working for me. VERY frustrating.

I've deleted/uninstalled everything many many times now. I was told to try unpacking the install.exe with WinRar and then installing QT, Apple Updater, etc. before installing iTunes. That did not work either.

I think the problem lies with the Apple Mobile Device installer. When I run the installer I get the following error message:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0 .50727.762",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736B3.

Everything then rolls back and I'm back in the same place I started. What do I do?

This is exactly what I get, too. I spent about 6 hours on these forums and others trying to figure out how to make the touch work on my computer. I did find a solution:

I went to a friend's house who has XP on her computer. 5 minutes later, I was syncing my touch.

It shouldn't have to be that way, but it seems like touch + Vista = incompatibility. For now. I tried everything these boards said. Uninstalling everything Apple-related, re-installing things in a certain order, running in compatibility mode for XP, etc etc etc. Still get the same error message you get. When iTunes first starts installing, if you look carefully it will say "Starting Apple Mobile Device" then REALLY shortly thereafter "Stopping Apple Mobile Device," followed by the error message and iTunes "Rolling back action." iTunes eventually completes the install, but then says that I'm using the wrong version of iTunes when I connect my touch.

Until Apple reads these boards and creates a solution for Vista, you might be stuck with a shiny new paperweight. Unless you have a friend that has XP or a Mac.

I think I may be able to help you.

My problem was in two places. I suspect yours is the same. I kept getting the error in iTunes due to an error with Windows Update. Whenever I tried to install updates for Windows, it would start and NEVER finish. I checked the update log and discovered (by right clicking on files and viewing the details) that the error code was 8007000B. After a BUNCH of digging around for a fix for this error I found one that worked.

Here's what you do:

1. Delete iTunes and Quicktime. (Yes, again. lol)
2. Visit the link below and follow the instructions.

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/ca7d15d7-8ee3-4993-bd01-753d adc904121033.mspx

3. Be sure to press the enter key after you type in the string they tell you on that page. You will see a confirmation that the action was successful.

4. Restart your computer and then install iTunes in the normal fashion. Just double click the install file and let it run.

This should help. If it doesn't, I don't know what to tell you. Mine worked perfectly after doing this.
