Is it possible to set Mac OS X to automatically lock screen (by switching to the Login Window, not by turning on Screen Saver or Logging out User) after a set period of time?
If not built in, do there exist 3rd party app to do so?
Mac OSX will log out the current user after a set amount of time. This option can be found under: System Preferences>Security>Select the option that say "Log out after XX minutes of inactivity".
You should also disable automatic login which can be found under the same preference setting.
It says "Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver. Just set the computer never to sleep and set the screen saver to the time you want.
Yes... and make sure you don;t have screeb saver set to 'flurry' whihc uses a lot of cpu cycles. i believe 'computer name' is the lowest impact ssaver.
