Numbers - How to delete duplicate names???

I am trying to create a database of names addresses phone#'s etc. I first made it in Address book (so I could send out mailers at a later date) then dragged it to Numbers. It worked out great, but sometimes there are duplicate names on my lists.

In numbers is there a way to search for duplicate content (names) and delete them?

Any other suggestions for the best way to do this would be appreciated.

I see two situations here. 1) You have an existing list and 2) you are adding a name and wish to determine if it is already on the list. Since your request seems to indicate the first, I'll address that one.

First, sort your list by a column that will identify duplicates. Next, add a column behind it and in the first cell of this added column enter the formula: ="". In the cell below place the formula: =IF(B2=B1,"DUPL","") and copy this down to the last cell of the column. All duplicates, if any, will be flagged with the term "DUPL". Then sort on this column in descending order so that the duplicate lines will be together at the top for easy deletion.
