Setting up my ipod shuffle

I've recently bought a new ipod shuffle (1st Gen) but when i connect it to my computer nothing happens! I've tried all the things in the support section but nothing works!!
When I've logged into iTunes I can't even sync it up cos it doesn't recognise anythings there, My computer also doesn't register anything either?

The only thing that happens when I plug it in is the orange light flashes 3 times then nothing, no other light!!

Can anyone help??

I'm using Windows Vista at the moment.

This might not be much help since I have no clue what I am doing, but make sure the shuffle is snapped into the dock. Mine wasn't hooked up completely, nothing was happening for me either but I leaned real hard on the shuffle in the dock & it finally snapped in place! DUH!! HTH some.

Since you've said it's a 1st Gen shuffle the battery may be totally depleted...make sure that you've enough clearance around the USB port you're plugging it into since the base is wider than most flash drives.

Where did you find a "new" 1st Gen anyway?
