can't add more notes after using the Magic Garageband creat a project

So i was trying Magic Garageband today for the first time, and when i moved to the project and tried adding more music with a different instrument, the onscreen keyboard went grey color and i cant click the keyboard for music. Anyone knows how to add more music with a magic garageband project?
