Audiobook rewind and fast forward

Pardon my ignorance, I am new to this. I download from Audible to iTunes. Then from there to my ipod nano (3rd). How can i make the book into tracks? Right now, if I hit the rewind, I go back HOURS. Then I am stuck listening to those hours all over again to get to where I want to be. I hope this can be resolved, cuz this does NOT work for me.

If the audiobook has chapters rewind moves to the previous chapter, if not, it moves to the beginning. I try not to touch that button.

What you need to do is put the book on pause, use the select button (middle) to change from the progress bar or volume bar to the bar with the diamond, once there use the wheel to move back or forward; the faster you "move" the wheel the faster it goes back or forward. It takes some practice.
