No word wrap

Hi Guys,

I'm a new mac user. My mac doesn't word wrap and its very disturbing to have to read an extremely long sentence by scrolling left and right.
It occurs when I visit certain webmails (yahoo) and when I use my Office for Mac. (the notes portion for Powerpoint).

I tried to find a wordwrap option on my mac but I can't seem to find it. I'd appreciate if somebody help me word wrap. Perhaps also explain to me the "why" of this problem?

Thanks!

In the notes portion of PowerPoint the word wrap is set by the size of the text box.

After you click in the box that says “Click to add text” small squares will appear in the corners and on the sides of the box. Drag those to adjust the size of the text box and the text will wrap to your resizing.

I don’t use webmails in Yahoo! so I can’t help you there, but you can resize the text boxes in Safari 3.1 by grabbing the striped triangle in the lower right corner and moving it to resize.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your reply! I opened a fresh presentation and tried what you had suggested. I did not manage to find any small squares... unless you were referring to the overall window resizing triangles?

But thanks to your suggestion, I tried pulling the size of the window around and found that the word wrap always occurs after a specific length, and even when you resize the window, the text will not 'flow' into the next line.. so you will always have to scroll left and right to read everything.
It will be great if it does. Or is that something we just have to accept about mac?

Constance,

Maybe you are using Office 2008.

I didn’t mean the window resizing triangle in the lower right corner of the window.

I’m using MS Office 2004. If I start PowerPoint and from the View menu choose Notes Page, then click in the box on the bottom of the window that says Click to add text, it highlights a box and puts resizing squares on all sides and corners. There is no scroll bar and resizing the box wraps sentences appropriately, using hyphens or spaces to wrap the text.

If the 2008 version doesn’t do word wrapping, that’s another reason for me not to upgrade. It’s certainly not something I would accept. But it would not be a Mac problem, it’s a Microsoft glitch. Apple can’t control how Microsoft programs its software.
