Java Applets will not run

Java Applets will not run in internet browser for firefox or safari.

Under Safari Security options Enable Java Plugins, Enable Java, and Enable Javascript are selected. Block pop-up windows is NOT selected to prevent the browser from blocking a possible popup from java and java still does not work.

I have installed several Java Runtime environments to try to get this working. Under Applications, Utilities, java- there are several listed. J2SE 5.0 . Java 1.3.1 Plug-in Settings.app, Java 1.4.2 Plug-in Settings.app, and Java Web Start.app

What am I missing?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hello mylita, rachelkm, and sebonac, please don't take this wrong, but you're not likely to get help in threads this old, but if you post New Topics of your own, they'll be far more noticeable!

That being said Rosetta is used Application by Application, do a Get Info on the APP, then uncheck the use Rosetta box.

Hello, I am new to the discussions forum. I've been searching the threads for my specific problem, but haven't found it.
I have MAC OS X Tiger (10.4.11) and noticed my java app wouldn't run the games I used to play. Yeah, I know...MACS are known to be for the true 'computer' types, but what can I say? I like games! I've downloaded the JavaForMacOSXRelease6.pkg (several times I think) to no avail. I think I might have deleted the Java App that came with my computer. I've gone to the Java website, but it directs me to an 'apple' web page, but I can't make any sense of it. HELP!

- open finder and go to safari.app in application folder
- show information
- check the box "open using rosetta"
- open safari application (if you open the java testpage nothing changes!!)
- close safari
- open finder and go to safari.app in application folder
- show information
- uncheck the box "open using rosetta"
- open safari application
- the java test page finally works very good!!!!

tell me if you solve your problem

sorry for my bad english

Hello again, Thanks for the welcome and my apologies for not sending thanks to those who responded directly to my question.
I don't know how, but the java applet (if that's what they are) actually began to work! I probably have numerous files or apps on here b/c I kept downloading the java file to get it to work!
However, when I do 'play' a java game, instead of the "coffee cup" being activated, a separate window pops up with all kinds of info in it re: the java program. I actually saved it as a doc. file. What do you think I did? (I'm sure my tech terms are not right, but am trying) JY
