Uninstall

how does one COMPLETELY uninstall FCS so I can start with a clean install?

Dual 2Gb G5, 15" Powerbook Extreme, Quad-Xeon Mac Pro, AppleTV, 5G video iPod..., Mac OS X (10.5.2), RADIO STREAM: http://www.inceptdate.com:8000/listen.pls

anyone? going once... going twice...

btw, was on the phone with Apple already. Not much help. I'll give them a couple of weeks. It's new software. but WHY would you release server software without an uninstall pkg???

I tried doing a manual uninstall by using Pacifist. I blew away every file that Pacifist said FCServer had installed. Unfortunately, when I reinstalled FCServer it "remembered" all my settings -- didn't even ask me where I wanted to put my media and proxies during install.

I ended up reformating the system drive, reinstalling OSX, then FCServer. Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but at least it's an answer.

thats a good one, have the same thing, is remembers settnings after manual uninstall, Apple pls make an uninstaler

I have a utility called FCS Remover that removes Final Cut Studio just by pressing a button. It would not be difficult to adapt it to uninstall Final Cut Server as well, only I don't actually have it so someone will have to give me a list of installed files for both clients and servers.

To get a list of files that the installer will copy, when you are on the Installation Type screen, click on Show Files and copy and paste that list.

I know FCS remover, used it last week, it would be great to have an uninstaler, but I dont understand how to get the list, pls explain one more time 🙂

when or if u do the new programing on the FCS remover, it would be super nice if u dont need to uninstall FCS at the same time, but only FCserver

in going through the shell code, I suddenly realized that FCS uses a SQL database (duh)... it could be that the device settings, etc are contained within that...

yes.... it is the database that Postgre is reading from... If we are able to delete that then we're golden. Will have an update shortly... hopefully...

ok.... this is going to sound a little nuts BUT...

Apple and myself worked on this issue for the past two hours. We found the solution and I got mine fixed in about 30 seconds. However, Apple has respectfully asked me not to post the solution here for a variety of reasons. This IS new software and they are working very hard on providing resolutions in their support area and in FCS updates.

While I would love to help all of you... please wait for Apple to offer their solutions. It will def. be better than the quick fix that we found tonight.

Knowing that Apple has never provided Uninstallers for the Pro Apps, I made sure to turn on Time Machine and do a backup before I installed FC Server, figuring that would be the easiest way to go back to the state before I installed.

of course, whether Time Machine actually works, I don't know. That's my solution, anyway.
