Using ColorSync on my iMac

Hello to anyone!
I need to get my colors correct all around. I used the color sync utility and ran the Profile First Aid and then clicked on Verify. The system found 21 bad ICC profiles. On all 21, the error message was "Tag 'dmnd' - tag size is not correct" - When I clicked on 'repair' the message said 'could not be fixed'. I need to get my colors to match; my colors from my original scanned picture, how it appears on my monitor, and what it looks like printed is way off. The tag size is set at 52. What should the Tag Size be if 52 is incorrect? Adobe Photoshop CS3 Tech support said this was an Apple issue. I called Apple Tech Support and they couldn't help me; they said this was out of their scope of support. I contacted Epson thru email. I have the most current drivers installed for my Epson Scanner and Epson Printer. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix?

Hello Lommarti

I get the same messages for 29 profiles, what I did was to set my display to the Epson sRGB profile and right away I noticed two things.

1. That the display is a little richer than any of my other profiles including Adobe RGB (1998) and the sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
2. Then when I print a photo with my epson CX4200 and hold it next to the screen, it's a perfect match.

In the Display Preference for Color uncheck the box for "Show profiles for this display" and see if there is an Epson profile to choose. Sorry I can't help you with the "Tag size is not correct" issue, but that works for me!

I have a hunch that there are some professional photo folks rolling there eyes and shaking there heads for letting the Epson profiles control me!

But I'm just a simple user, and if it works I like to keep it that way!

Hi Dennis, I followed your instructions and then I printed my file in Preview and the colors almost match; they're still a little off. When I open the same file in Photoshop CS3, and print, it's still way off. Not sure what to try next. I haven't calibrated my monitor yet; will have to get the equipment to do so. Is your monitor calibrated? My Epson scanner & printer were purchased in 2001. The software cd that came with them no longer works. I downloaded the current drivers and it seems like this is all they have-I didn't see any software to download. Seems like the driver and software is together as one. I contacted Epson about this and am curious about how they'll respond. I printed all the color management docs from the Epson site and when I go through the instructions, they don't match with the step by step screens they show. I'm wondering if I need to purchase a more up to date printer and/or scanner. Any suggestions on what settings to play with in Photoshop to get the colors to match?

I bought my Early Core Duo and the Epson CX4200 (all-in-one) in Jan. 2006 and I use iPhoto, so sorry I really can't help you with the CS3 color. I had never installed anything from the Epson CD, only the scanner driver from there web site. Then after upgrading to Leopard in Dec. I have downloaded the 10.5 support for my Epson model.
